Since announcing that she completed chemotherapy last September, Kate Middleton has gradually returned to public engagements. It has now been announced that next week she and Prince William will spend two days in the Scottish islands to meet with communities and promote environmental conservation efforts.

"The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay will visit the islands of Mull and Iona on Tuesday, April 29, and Wednesday, April 30, to connect with the rural communities of the islands and celebrate them," stated Kensington Palace, showing that when they are in Scotland, William and Kate use these different titles. The island of Mull is located off the west coast of Scotland and has a population of nearly 3,000. The smaller nearby Iona has a population of just 170.

"During their visit to the Scottish islands, Their Royal Highnesses will spend time with local community members, reflecting on the power of social ties and the importance of protecting and defending the natural environment, two themes that are close to both Their Royal Highnesses," Kensington Palace stated.

These two days in Scotland will mark Kate's biggest work trip since her gradual return to public engagements. Since last September, she has attended a few selected events, and in January, she and William spent a day in Wales. The last public appearance of the Princess was in her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards on March 17, St. Patrick's Day, when she attended the annual regiment parade at Wellington Barracks. This year, the Welsh royal family did not participate in Easter service at Windsor with the rest of the royal family, as they were on vacation in Norfolk with the children.

On the Isle of Mull, William and Kate will visit a community center and a market in the town of Tobermory, as well as partake in some outdoor educational activities with the local school children. "The landscapes and communities of the Scottish islands stand in stark contrast to how many of us live in more urban environments," Kensington Palace stated. "These island communities offer an effective model for promoting a more loving, empathetic, and compassionate society through deeper connections with the surrounding environment and greater engagement in shared initiatives."
